![]() Don and his wife were foster parents and adopted several children and a couple of children from South Korea and raised grandchildren as their own. He was a member of the Warren Covenant Church and Bemidji Covenant Church and served in leadership positions. Don was president of Full Gospel Businesses in it early days in Bemidji. Donald and Joan married in 1964 and shared a wonderful life filled with love. Donald met his loving wife, Joan Signe Abrahamson, in 1960 while working doing road construction in Duluth, MN. He taught at Bemidji State University for 6 years, did road construction, sold manufactured homes, sold cars, world books, encyclopedias, pick up toppers, and sold woodland homes of Bemidji. When Don moved to Bemidji he was working road construction and then bought into Midway Garden and sold snowmobiles and lawn and garden equipment in addition to roofing and snow removal summer and winter. Donald was a hard working man of many talents. Donald also went on to get his 4 year degree and his Masters. Donald continued his education at Hansen's Mechanical Trade School where he graduated. He served with the US Army from 1952 and was honorably discharged 1954 after he sustained an injury during Korean War. Donald was awarded his General Education Diploma in Warren, MN. Donald grew upon a farm and attended school in Swift, MN and Warroad, MN. He also loved to dance where he was certified as an Arthur Murray dancer with his wife. Dewey had lots of Purple Pride and would never miss a Vikings game. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, wood projects and watching football. His prize possession, 8lb Walleye was mounted and is still on the wall at his home. He would start his wood stove and fish until the early morning hours. Later Dewey moved the family to Bemidji, MN and where he worked at Nu-ply/Georgia Pacific/Eagles for many years until retirement.ĭuane had many hobbies, fishing being his favorite, where he would leave work after a long night and sit in his fish house that he built from scratch.
